For sugar (diabetic) patients

Diabetic footwear that protects every step.

With sugar, the feet can lose feeling and a small cut or pressure spot can turn into a wound. Softysoles Diabosole medical footwear off-loads pressure points, keeps nails and thorns out, and makes room for swelling and dressings.

Why a diabetic foot needs different footwear

😶

Less feeling in the feet

Sugar can dull the nerves (neuropathy). A small cut, nail or tight strap may not be felt until it becomes a wound.

🔴

Pressure points

Too much pressure on one spot of the sole builds calluses, and calluses can turn into ulcers.

🦶

Swelling & dressings

Feet swell through the day, and a dressed foot needs extra room. Normal chappals pinch and rub.

⏳

Slow healing

Wounds on a diabetic foot heal slowly, so protecting the foot every day matters most.

How every pair protects the foot

  • ✓

Soft MCR/MCP off-loading insole. Spreads pressure evenly across the sole and relieves areas of high plantar pressure.

  • ✓

Hard, tough outsole. Stops sharp objects like nails and thorns from getting through to the foot.

  • ✓

Wide toe box. No squeezing of the toes or the front of the foot.

  • ✓

Parallel-bar Velcro straps. Open wide to fit ulcer dressings and neuropathic swelling, and adjust through the day.

  • ✓

Soft-lined straps. MCR/MCP lining on every strap, so no hard edge rubs the skin.

  • ✓

Stable heel counter. Holds the heel steady and makes up for weak foot muscles, a common neuropathy problem.

Made for your foot

Custom-made for ulcers, calluses & more

Pairs can be adapted to the foot, for example a scoop under an ulcer or callus area, an anterior wedge to off-load the forefoot, or a height correction. Mention it in your order notes and we will confirm before making your pair.

Off-loading

Scoop

A shallow hollow shaped into the footbed under a tender spot or callus, so that spot carries less load with every step.

Off-loading

Rocker sole

A curved sole that lets the foot roll through each step, so the front of the foot bends less and takes less pressure.

Off-loading

Metatarsal bar & wedge

A raised bar just behind the ball of the foot, or a sloping wedge under the forefoot, shifts load away from the front of the foot.

Cushioning

Heel pad & calcaneal pad

Extra cushioning under and around the heel for a softer landing and a protected heel.

Support

Arch support

A contoured footbed that supports the arch. It is one of the specialities of Softysoles for flat feet.

Alignment

Height correction

A raised sole made to the height you need, to make up for a difference in leg length.

Support

Achilles care

Padding and shaping around the back of the heel to reduce rubbing and strain near the Achilles tendon.

Alignment

Heel valgus correction

Extra support on the inner side of the heel to help the heel stay upright when it tends to tilt outwards.

Daily foot-care checklist for sugar patients

  1. 1Look at both feet every day, including between the toes and under the heel.

  4. 4Wash and fully dry your feet. Moisturise, but not between the toes.
  5. 5Check your footwear for stones, seams or worn spots.
  6. 6Tell your doctor about any blister, cut, colour change or loss of feeling.

Questions families ask us

How do I find my size?+

Stand on a sheet of paper, mark your longest toe and heel, and measure the distance in centimetres. Enter it in the size finder on the Size Guide page and we suggest a UK size. If you are between two sizes, choose the larger one.

Are sizes UK or Indian?+

Indian sizes follow the UK numbering, so a UK 8 is an Indian 8. The size guide also shows the approximate European size.

Do you have half sizes or different widths?+

Designs are offered in whole sizes. Most designs have adjustable straps, so the width can be changed with the fastening. If you need something wider or a half size, message us and we will advise.

My feet swell during the day. Which size should I choose?+

Measure your feet in the evening, when they are largest, and choose the larger size if you are between two. Designs with parallel-bar straps let you loosen the front as your feet swell.

Can I get a made-to-fit pair?+

Yes. Book a foot scan and we can advise on customisations such as scoops, rockers, wedges, heel pads, arch support and height correction. See the Foot Scan and Customisation pages.

What are MCR and MCP?+

MCR is micro cellular rubber and MCP is micro cellular polyurethane. Both are light, soft, resilient materials that cushion the foot and spread pressure. They form the footbed and line the straps.

What does Shore A mean?+

Shore A is a scale for how hard a rubber or foam feels. A lower value means softer. Softysoles uses softer materials where your foot rests and a firmer outsole underneath.

Softysoles footwear is designed for comfort and support. It does not replace medical treatment. If you have diabetes, a wound or loss of feeling in your feet, please follow your doctor's advice.
